Using Cursor

Cursor is an AI-powered code editor that works well for extending exported Buildable projects with intelligent code completion and AI chat.

Getting started

1

Install Cursor

Download Cursor from cursor.com. It’s available for macOS, Windows, and Linux.
2

Open your project

Open your exported Buildable project folder in Cursor:
Or use File > Open Folder from the menu.
3

Install dependencies

Open the integrated terminal and install dependencies:

Using AI features

Inline editing (Cmd+K)

Select code and press Cmd+K (or Ctrl+K on Windows) to edit with AI. For example:
  • Select a component and ask: “Add a hover animation to this card”
  • Select a function and ask: “Add error handling and loading state”

Chat (Cmd+L)

Use the chat panel to ask questions about your codebase or request larger changes:
  • “How does the routing work in this project?”
  • “Create a new dashboard page with a sidebar and charts”
  • “Add authentication with NextAuth”

Tab completion

Cursor provides intelligent autocomplete as you type, predicting the next line of code based on your project context.
Add a .cursorrules file to your project root to give Cursor context about your project’s conventions, tech stack, and preferences.
  1. Export from Buildable to get a solid starting point
  2. Open in Cursor to make targeted changes
  3. Use AI chat for larger features or architecture questions
  4. Use inline editing for quick modifications
  5. Preview changes with npm run dev running in the terminal
